One of a kind collaboration, a doctor and comedian; in conjunction with National Healthcare Decisions Day.
As an Emergency Physician I know all too well the importance of advance care planning. Commonly known as a “living will,” it is much more than that. My personal experience supports what the data says, that the majority of Americans have not addressed end of life care planning. It’s a tough conversation and it is a challenge to get people to “have the talk.”
An idea come to my mind, let’s inject some humor into the subject to jumpstart the conversation.
The result is a first of its kind take on Advance Care Planning.
I contacted Stevie Ray, of Stevie Ray’s Improv Comedy Show, the Advance Care Planning (ACP) teams at Park Nicollet, North Memorial and Ridgeview Medical Centers and Minnesota Honoring Choices and the idea is coming to life! The Life & Death Comedy Show will be running April 15th and 16th, in conjunction with National Healthcare Decisions Day (NHDD.org), at the Chanhassen Dinner Theater.
